Our Mission
Our mission is to honor the human-animal bond in all we do by working to improve the care of our patients, the experiences of our clients, and the health of our team and the larger veterinarian community.
We work with your primary care veterinarian to provide emergency care for pets in the Nashville area. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please contact your primary care veterinarian first. If your vet’s office is closed, bring your pet directly to our emergency center in South Nashville. Our hospital is located at 2971 Sidco Drive, Nashville, Tennessee, 37204. You don’t need a referral for your pet to be treated in our emergency room.
Sometimes pets require advanced medical treatments that your primary care veterinarian may not provide. Your vet will determine if your pet needs to see a specialist, and will refer you to one of our specialty services.
Our specialists at our South Nashville location treat pets for conditions that require advanced surgical techniques, care for cancer and other internal diseases, problems with the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord, pets needing intensive care, allergies, skin problems, and rehabilitation.
Environmental Commitment
At Nashville Veterinary Specialists, our first priority is to our patients and clients. We also have a broader concern and commitment to being environmentally responsible.
Doing our very best job as medical care providers requires specific resources like disposable medical supplies, powerful medical equipment, and industrial strength kennel and facility cleaning products. Access to these resources can make for a fully operational and successful clinic, but it can also make for a highly wasteful and polluting facility. In the medical world, taking care of patients while being environmentally friendly can be difficult. But here at Nashville Veterinary Specialists, we have made the commitment to provide the highest level of care while being as “green” as possible. We have incorporated several “green” practices into our hospital design and operations.

SOLAR POWER
A 28-megawatt photovoltaic solar panel system supplies approximately 40% of our energy needs through the sun.
RAINWATER COLLECTION
A 5,000-gallon rain water collection system gathers water from our roof so it can be used to irrigate the landscape.
NATURAL LIGHTING
Six 4ft x 4ft skylights bring natural daylight into the interior of our hospital.
Large windows in our lobbies bring natural light and passive solar gain in winter.
RECYCLING
A comprehensive single-stream recycling program diverts paper, plastics, aluminum, packing materials, and glass from the land field.
REDUCTION
Energy star appliances are used throughout the hospital.
Stained concrete flooring, in more than half of the hospital, decreased material usage during building construction.
Circulating hot water pump brings rapid hot water to all fixtures in medical treatment ward reducing water use.
REUSE
Reclaimed medical cabinets, employee lockers and office/break room/exam room furniture are used throughout the hospital.
Waste reduction through the use of reusable materials as much as possible.
HEALTHY INDOOR ENVIRONMENT
Environmentally friendly cleaners are used whenever appropriate.
Window views to outside through the hospital increases employees’ exposure to natural daylight.
