Dr. Long graduated summa cum laude, in 2008, from the University of Tennessee receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. She went on to earn her DVM, graduating cum laude, in 2012 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a one-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery in New York, New York, followed by a three-year Emergency/Critical Care residency at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Long became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2016. Dr. Long’s clinical interests include sepsis, trauma, and transfusion medicine.

In April 2023 Dr. Whitney Long moved into the role of, ER/ICU/ECC/UC Director. Dr. Long will continue her role as our Board Certified Criticalist. Additionally, she will oversee and support the doctors and staff in our ER, ICU, Critical Care, and Urgent Care departments. Her goal will be to ensure our hospital practices the highest quality patient care and provides the best experience possible for our clients.

In her free time, Dr. Long enjoys spending time outdoors with her black lab mix, Lenny, cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and exploring the endless music scene in Nashville.
